Cardrona’s Alpine Racers; Taking on the world

Seasoned pro and paralympic gold medallist, Adam Hall has been continuing his winning streak by taking 1st in Super G at the first of the two Super G races at the International Paralympic Nor-Am Cup speed races in Kimberly, Canada.

“The race was close,” said Adam.  “I won by about four tenths of a second and after making a few mistakes in the course I was happy to come through with my first-ever win in Super G at a NorAm event.  The second Super G didn’t go quite as well due to some issues with my equipment and I ended up finishing in seventh.”

Adam also competed in his first Downhill race in six years.  “I managed to win one training run by just over one second and another training run by about three hundredths.  I was clocked at about 95 km hour.”

Cardrona Alpine Ski Team athlete Piera Hudson (15) was recently selected to represent New Zealand at the 2012 Inaugural Winter Youth Games in Innsbruck Austria. Piera was the sole NZ female alpine athlete – what an honour!

Up against an experienced field and in challenging conditions Piera claimed 15th in Slalom, coach Jonathon Rice said "Piera performed brilliantly in a very experienced field dominated by skiers from Slovakia, Canada and Russia."

Huge congratulations to both Adam and Piera for outstanding performances overseas!
