Avalanche danger remains high

Today four snowboarders ignored the backcountry avalanche warnings at Cardrona and rode out of bounds.  They set off two size 2 avalanches below the Comeback Trail and were very lucky not to be buried and/or killed.

When Ski Areas talk about Backcountry we mean anywhere outside the boundary ... which includes the "side country" and the "front country" (between Cardrona and the road / valley floor).  We cannot stress enough the importance of staying within the ski area boundary until conditions stabilize and become safe.   Those who choose to travel outside the boundaries must ensure they are in a group and have

  • Transceivers
  • Shovels
  • Probs
