Your week will be made up of four days of schooling (Monday - Thursday) and training with the HPC Race, Freeski or Snowboard programmes from Friday to Sunday.
If your skiing or snowboarding is not yet of an advanced standard, you can still experience living, and going to school, in the beautiful mountain town of Wanaka and take advantage of Mount Aspiring College's Outdoor Pursuits Programme.
The Mount Aspiring College outdoor education programme offers outdoor pursuits courses as a subject in Year 12 and Year 13. Their winter outdoor pursuits programme focuses on ski and snowboard tuition, allowing students to develop Snowsports at a local world-class alpine resort.

Kip McGrath
Additional tuition and continued education are an important part of being at the HPC. Therefore and we support and encourage our athletes to continue their education during their winter by attending the Kip McGrath Education Centre, Wanaka.
Kip McGrath take full responsibility for the learning that students would be missing whilst here in Wanaka for winter. They communicate with the school to provide a seamless transition with learning and can also individuate for NCEA examinations if necessary. The individual learning programmes are developed and implemented in a small class of 1:4 during 80 minute lessons, four nights a week in English, Maths and Science. The appeal of Kip McGrath is their flexibility. Lessons are timed to fit around the athletes training schedule, mountain and dry land, they also meet the needs of each individual regardless of age or subject.
The materials used are well graded and by setting achievable targets this ensures academic success. Students find that working at their own pace, in a small class is both enjoyable and rewarding. Progress is continually reassessed and monitored which is encouraging for both students and their parents. This positive, supportive learning environments enables the student's to achieve their potential.
Kip McGrath has been established in New Zealand for 20 years with over 15,000 students attending tutoring sessions annually. With nearly 100 centres throughout New Zealand athletes can continue their tuition when they return home. All the teachers are fully qualified and highly experienced in their subject area. "Our programmes are tried and tested, continually being upgraded and adapted to accommodate changes in the curriculum. This style of tutoring works!"
