Freeski Coaching Options

Full time

Full time

What is it? The full time freeski coaching option is focused on our up and coming competitive freeski athletes. It gives athletes a solid base in competitive freeskiing and athlete development.

Who for? Advanced freestyle skiers who want a comprehensive, full time training programme to boost them towards achieving their goals. 

The commitment: 4 sessions* per week (Thu - Sun)

Start date: 3rd July 2010
End date: End of Junior Nationals (1st October 2010, depending on contingency days)

The Price: NZ$3675

Price includes:

  • On snow training
  • Gym membership
  • Junior Nationals event support


Extras:

  • Season pass
  • Event entry, travel and lifts passes at other mountains
  • Club memberships
  • Homestay
  • Education


Equipment requirements:

  • Good twin tips and old twin tips for rails. All terrain skis recommended.
  • Helmet - compulsory for all training and competing
  • Body protection recommended
  • Physical training clothes and running shoes.

 

* Sessions are not necessarily full days and may include indoor and off-snow content as well as on-snow coaching.  Time on snow is based upon weather/snow conditions and athlete stamina.

Part time

Part time

What is it? Part time freeski coaching provides excellent grounding for athletes in competitive freesking.

Who for? Advanced freestyle skiers who want comprehensive, season-long coaching, that are not able to commit to full time coaching.

The commitment: 3 sessions* per week

Start date: 3rd July 2010
End date: End of Junior Nationals (1st October 2010, depending on contingency days)

Weekends

What is it? Weekend coaching caters for those that are serious about learning to freeski. The focus is on developing strong skiing skills in all areas and learning how to ride pipe, Terrain Park, big mountain terrain and skier cross. It gives athletes a solid introduction to freeski training, with the options to compete at junior events.

Who for? Advanced skiers wanting to develop their skills in the pipe and park

The commitment: 2 sessions* per week (Sat, Sun)

Start date: 3rd July 2010
End date: End of Junior Nationals (1st October 2010, depending on contingency days)

Price: NZ$1555

Sunday Sessions

Sunday Sesssions - New for 2010!!!

What is it? Designed to introduce skiers to all areas of skiing including; race and freeski training, working on pipe, park and big mountain skills, alongside gate training techniques.

Who for? Young advanced skiers who want to learn skills in all disciplines and not specialise just yet.

The commitment: 1 session* per week (Sun)

Start date: 4th July 2010

End date: end of Junior Nationals (1st October 2010, depending on contingency days)

Price: NZ$785

Price includes:

  • On snow training
  • Junior Nationals event support


Extras:

  • Season pass
  • Event entry, travel and lifts passes at other mountains
  • Club memberships


Equipment requirements:

  • Good skis, and some older ones for rails.  Specialist skis (eg twin tips, Slalom, GS are not compulsory at this stage)
  • Helmet - compulsory for all training and competing *Session length is subject to weather and snow conditions and are not necessarily full days on snow.

Camps

HPC Freeski Camps

HPC Freeski Camps offer kids who are unable to train for the whole season the chance to train in week-long blocks during the July School holidays. Camps run from Monday - Friday in each of the three weeks of the New Zealand holidays.

Date options: 5 - 9 July, 12 - 16 July, 19 - 23 July

Price: NZ$550

There will be at least two camp groups, with one being focused on introductory freeski skills and the other offering training for intermediate to advanced freeskiers.

HPC Camps are for school age kids with a minimum ability level of skiing parallel over the whole mountain. If you are not quite at this level yet, check out www.cardrona.com for other week-long options.

Kuzma Kids Camp

For advanced skiers wanting to rip around the mountain with a fantastic female freeskier.

Following the success of the inaugural Camp Wells in 2009, Jossi and Byron will be back to coach talented freeskiers towards their dream of becoming professional freeski athletes.
