The Cardrona Grom Prix (NZ Freeski & Snowboard Junior Nationals) is done and dusted for another year and what an apt way to finish the southern hemisphere winter; the biggest junior event of the season.

After a winter of hard work and training the Grom Prix gives the juniors the opportunity to compete and bench mark their skills against their peers. Marketing Manager Nadia Ellis says, ‘We are so fortunate here at Cardrona to host so many talented athletes. It has been a real privilege to once again run the Grom Prix alongside Snow Sports NZ ’.

This year’s competition was HUGE, 227 kids entered the 4 day comp which crowned this year’s Junior National Champions.

Competitors were aged between 5 & 19 and competed across 5 disciplines; Slopestyle, Halfpipe, Gravity Cross, Duel GS & Big Mountain.

The Wells family continued their domination with Jackson taking out the youth ski overall title and Beau James the junior division.
