Lift Operators

Our customers rely on you to assist them on and off the chair safely. Being a Liftie is hard work! At times medium to heavy physical duties are required of you. You will need to have loads of energy and enthusiasm and be able to maintain this level throughout your working week assisting our customers in having the BEST time possible. Lifties need to ski or board to an intermediate level and be a strongly customer focused person who works well both on your own and in a team environment. A First Aid certificate is desirable as is an eye for pre-empting a customers needs from both a health and safety and customer service aspect. The sometimes adverse weather conditions of a ski resort do not bother lifties as they are a tough breed!

Kids Centres

At Cardrona Alpine Resort we have 2 fully Licensed Early Childhood Centres on the mountain. Ski Kindy is for 3 and 4 year olds and the Nursery and Kindy is for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. Both centres are well resourced. We are seeking highly motivated, passionate staff to work in the centres. We are looking to employ NZ Registered or Provisionally Registered Early Childhood Teachers, NZ Registered Primary Teachers, overseas qualified teachers, persons with Early Childhood qualifications and staff with experience working with under 5 year olds. The number one goal is a safe quality experience for our customers. *Please note that ALL applicants applying  to work with under 5 year olds will need to supply, with their online application, TWO written references relating to their work with children.

Ticket Office Staff

We are looking for outstanding customer service representatives! The Ticket Office is one of the first points of contact for a majority of our guests, therefore a professional, positive and outgoing manner is crucial, as well as consistently providing fabulous customer service, up to date information, and advice. You will be responsible for promoting, selling, and cross selling Cardrona Alpine Resort products and services. Additionally, our office is in charge of the day to day cash flow, till balancing and banking for the entire mountain, so a good head for numbers is a must!

Ticket Office/I.T Staff

If you have all the attributes for a ticket office staff position AND have IT experience we would love to hear from you. General networking and program knowledge is required to assist throughout the resort, however your main position would be with Ticket office staff as above.

Ticket Office/Group Booking Staff

We require an incredibly organized ticket office staff member to assist our groups co-ordinator with giving our many and varied groups visitors a Cardrona Alpine Resort experience to remember. You will need outstanding communication skills and the ability to work independently and super efficiently. Your main position would be with ticket office staff as above.

Terrain Park Staff

The terrain park is a very busy place at Cardrona! We are seeking energetic, reliable, and hard working staff to join the team. Successful applicants will have a passion for freestyle skiing and riding. You will need to enjoy working in a tight knit team environment, and be willing to work flexible hours/days. The ability to maintain the right attitude and have the stamina to get through the very busy event schedule at Cardrona is also a pre-requisite. Previous terrain park experience is an advantage, but not essential, as the successful applicants will be shown all aspects of the job. The essential criteria are that ALL applicants who apply must have an above average ability on skis or boards on freestyle features.

Car Park Attendants

Our ideal candidates will enjoy working with the public and be well able to deliver superior service with a smile even in the sometimes adverse weather conditions of a ski resort. This position can be a very busy and challenging one. On a big day you could be facilitating the parking of hundreds of cars. As you will quite possibly be the first point of contact with our customers it is essential that you are well presented and possess a well balanced personality. A strong work ethic and the ability to lend your hand to any task required whilst working within in a small close knit team is desirable. A good understanding of winter road conditions and ability to move and use a trailer safely is to your advantage.

Custodians

On a big mountain with lots of people there’s lots of cleaning and daily maintenance to do. We need hard working people! The successful applicants will be able to work well within a close knit team yet have the discipline and work ethic that allows them to work well unsupervised when required. You will need to ski or board to an intermediate level as some of your duties will be only ski accessible.  Effective communication skills and a  strong background in commercial cleaning are a prerequisite of the position.  You will need to use your initiative as you will receive plenty of queries and requests via contact with our guests. Good presentation is a must as is an eye for detail. This can be a rewarding position allowing you to meet everyone on the mountain.

Retail Assistant

Our on mountain store supplies ski and snowboard clothing and accessories. Hardware is not sold through the shop. Our ideal candidates would have a solid background in retail, particularly winter clothing and accessories sales and preferably have previous experience in the snow industry. A well presented, bubbly and out going personality is favoured. Cash handling and some computer experience is an advantage.

Rental Assistant

First timers, advanced riders, school groups, kids, adults, skiers and snowboarders. You will help them all! Going the extra mile with service here can make or break a guest’s day. We are seeking friendly, approachable, hardworking people who get satisfaction from assisting guests in the ultimate fit with their boots, skis, boards, poles and clothing. The Rental crew need to have the ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining the ultra high standards that we are known for. Due to a high number of returning staff within this department we are requiring a minimum of TWO SEASONS rental experience and a ski teching background. Please supply relevant supporting references

Apartments

With 15 self contained, on mountain apartments we need a team of energetic, hardworking people who have an eye for detail. We require people with great time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure as check in and out times can be tight. The apartment’s crew members will need to possess a strong work ethic, a friendly and helpful manner along with a neat and tidy appearance as they have regular contact with our guests. A willingness to turn your hand to any task required of you is a desirable attribute. Previous housekeeping experience may be to your advantage.

Pizza Chef

Away from the main base area is Captains Cafe. A small but extremely busy kitchen that makes pizzas, including all dough, as well as a selection of fast food and pastas. Chefs with a background in pizza making are required for Captain’s pizzeria. People working at Captain's Cafe will need to ski or snowboard to an intermediate level as this is how you get to and from work. A strong work ethic, good time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure are desirable attributes for this off beat café.

Asian Chef

The Noodle Bar requires chefs with experience in high volume wok/Asian style cooking. A selection of dishes are prepared fresh to order and this is an extremely quick turnover outlet. The ability to work well within a small team is paramount as is the ability to organise your time efficiently and effectively. Experience in the preparation and cooking of both wet and dry Asian dishes is essential.

A La Carte Chef

The Mezz Café is the place to eat for hearty café food cooked fresh to order. This small but extremely high demand open kitchen requires experienced chefs for all aspects of a daily café service including dinner service for apartment guests. The ability to work well within a small team is paramount as is the ability to organise your time efficiently and effectively. Previous a la carte experience in a busy restaurant or café environment is essential.

Cook

The main base café serves over half of our guests on a daily basis and requires team players with experience in short order cooking and high volume fast food service. The ability to use your time efficiently while remaining calm under pressure is essential. Neat and tidy presentation and knowledge of food safety hygiene standards is essential. Cash handling and great customer service skills would also be an advantage as front of house duties may be required of you

Food Preparation Assistant

The main base café team requires food preparation assistants to run a high volume high turnover fast food kitchen. Experience with food handling and preparation of sandwiches, burgers and fries etc is essential to ensure the smooth running of this extremely busy outlet. Neat and tidy presentation, a strong work ethic and knowledge of food hygiene standards is essential. Cash handling and great customer service skills would also be an advantage as front of house duties may be required of you.

Barista

Can you work in a team on a coffee machine turning out 500+ coffees a day? Do you have a minimum 6 months experience as a dedicated barista in a busy coffee shop? If so this is the position for you! Cardrona has a reputation for outstanding coffee and we need baristas with the experience to uphold this. You will have the ability to remain cool under pressure as this will be the busiest coffee machine you have ever worked on. Previous till operation and cash handling experience is to your advantage as you will be required to do more than just make coffees. General cafe duties are intertwined with this role. The ability to turn your hand to any task required of you is desirable as is a friendly team player attitude.

Some part time barista opportunities exist at our Captain’s Café where we are looking for keen shredders to work only the peak hours (around 4) of the day. Please indicate if you would be interested in this role in your application by including it in the free text box. You must be able to ski or snowboard to an intermediate level as this is how you get to work.

Groomers

We require experienced groomer drivers who have a strong work ethic and an eye for detail. You would ideally have 4 plus years free grooming experience. Park building, winching and pipe shaping experience is an advantage. You will be required to work as part of a close knit team to achieve what is sometimes thought of as impossible. With an intense events schedule you must have the ability to remain calm under pressure and work well with others. The schedule has some variations but the bulk of shifts are scheduled to start after sun down.

Mountain Mascot

This position takes a special character. We require an energetic, fun loving, hard working mountain mascot. Your hours of work are generally between 7:30am and 2pm. You will need to ski or board to an advanced level as our mascots ski around the mountain. A high level of physical fitness is required for the position. You will need to enjoy children and be able to foster in them, a sense of wonderment that only a make believe creature can promote. It's a tough job but very fun!

Ski Patrol

Cardrona employs Full and part time ski patrollers. They must be experienced and competent skiers in all snow conditions with strong mountain and medical skills. Minimum qualifications are pre hospital emergency and avalanche courses. Work experience in slope safety and guest relations is an advantage.

Nurse

Cardrona Alpine Resort employs a full and part time qualified Nurse on the mountain during winter hours of operation. The Nurse is required to have a current NZ nursing registration, A&E and resuscitation experience. The Nurse is responsible for the management of a seven bed medical room and assisting the resort doctor of diagnosis and treatment of injured resort customers and staff.

Doctor/Medical Officer

Cardrona Alpine Resort has a qualified doctor on mountain during winter hours of operation. This sole charge position requires a current NZMC practicing certificate, A&E and resuscitation experience. The Doctor is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of injured resort customers and staff. Experience in transfer of patients from remote sites to base hospitals is desirable.

Slope Safety

We employ slope safety personnel to assist guests in having a safe and fun time whilst on the slopes. The position is supervised by a senior patroller and is responsible for ensuring that guests and staff follow the snow responsibility code. You will need to ski to an advanced level, posses a first aid certificate and have excellent communication skills. You may also be required to undertake a variety of field related tasks as requested by your Supervisor.

Patrol Receptionist

Cardrona employs both a full and part-time receptionist based in Ski Patrol medical room. This position requires you to assist with patient care and related documentation. Cash handling and computer skills are advantageous as you will be responsible for collecting payments. Necessary qualifications include a first aid certificate and company approved drivers licence. Customer service skills and ski area knowledge is desirable.

Snofoto

Your job is to capture our guest’s day of fun on the slopes in a photo.  You will need to ski to at least an intermediate level, enjoy the snowy alpine environment and it's sometimes adverse weather conditions.  You will need to supply your own camera.  Remuneration is a mix of hourly wage and commission. Successful applicants will have experience in sales and photography using DSLR Cameras. Previous sales/industry experience is an advantage.  Please include a portfolio or link to your photographic work in your application.

Terrain Park and Halfpipe Groomer operator

We are on the hunt for a top level experienced snowcat operator with a proven history of halfpipe construction and shaping to a World Cup standard.  A minimum of 3 years experience operating a 22ft/6.7m halfpipe shaper and winch cat and a minimum 3 years constructing and installing terrain park features is required.  You will need a high level of competency in all aspects of operating and maintaining park grooming equipment. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and be able to communicate effectively with others. We require a proven history of your ability to communicate your understanding of the design, safety and maintenance aspects of terrain park features and halfpipes.

Ticket Office - Queenstown

We are looking for outstanding customer service representatives to manage and operate the Cardrona Alpine Resort Queenstown office through the winter season, extending industry relationships, processing sales, accounting and banking revenue and providing exceptional customer service to clients in the Queenstown area. The successful candidate would also be required to occasionally work in the ticket office at Cardrona. There is one fulltime and one part time position available.

Maintenance - ski season

We are looking for outstanding team player who has proven lift mechanic and machine maintenance experience/qualifications.  Ideally you will have an engineering background and also be well capable of turning your hand to general building maintenance tasks as required.  The position is for the winter ski season only (late June - early October). You will be part of a close knit team who are relied on to get the lifts spinning early in the morning and to ensure that guests and staff are safely off the mountain at the end of the day .
