OTAGO POLYTECHNIC COURSE
Otago Polytechnic Certificate in Snowsport Instructing (Ski or Snowboard)
This is what we consider to be the ultimate snowsports instructor training course in the world. It runs for 18 weeks, starting at the beginning of June and going through to closing day at Cardrona Alpine Resort.
The course is run through the Otago Polytechnic and delivered by the Cardrona Instructor Training Centre. It is the only programme of its kind that is industry based. This means that we employ all the students as ski or snowboard instructors right at the beginning of the season. The training is designed to prepare student to teach within the school as soon as possible. Once they are ready and start teaching the training becomes integrated with the teaching experience. The students are treated as staff and are part of our Cardrona Ski and Snowboard School team.
Students have all the benefit of being in tertiary education in New Zealand as well as being eligible for a J1 visa. This visa means that they have a 100% opportunity of gaining work as an instructor in the Northern hemisphere, with the help of your trainers, on completion of the course.
The course covers a huge curriculum and the outcomes are far wider than any other instructor training course. These include:
- The Otago Polytec Certificate in Snowsport Instructing (Ski or Snowboard)
- The SFRITO National Certificate in snowschool (L3)v
- The NZSIA/SBINZ Level one
- The NZSIA/SBINZ Level two
- Formal teaching hours
- Snowboard school employment reference letter
