SnowSports School - Ski and Snowboard Lessons
Kia Ora and welcome to the Cardrona Snowsports School!
Whether you are at Cardrona for just a couple of days, the week, or the whole season, come and see us at the Ski & Snowboard School. We offer ski and snowboard lessons and programmes for all ages and ability levels. We can help you improve your skiing/riding, have fun, and look good doing it.
Our week-long programmes have the benefit of instructor and group continuity and are a great chance to improve your technique, meet other skiers/boarders and have a great time on the mountain. They are perfect during the school holidays or if that family is at Cardrona for several days. The adult workshops are designed to go hand in hand with the kids’ Skiwees/Lowriders programmes.

Adult Level Guide

| 1A (Green) |
I have never skied before. |
| 1B (Green) |
I have skied before but am still working on stopping and turning. |
| 2 (Blue) |
I make wedge turns and control my speed with my turn shape. I am comfortable on green terrain. |
| 3 (Blue) |
My skis start the turn in a wedge and end the turn parallel. I am comfortable on blue terrain. |
| 4 (Blue) |
My skis are always parallel and my legs work simultaneously throughout the turn. I use my poles in time with my turns and am comfortable on all blue terrain. |
| 5 (Black) |
I ski parallel and can carve my skis and remain balanced and controlled throughout the turn. I can make short, medium and long radius turns. |
| 6 (Black) |
I am a strong skier and am able to make carved turns, in a variety of radius, on all groomed terrain. I can ski all off piste terrain with speed and confidence and using different turn types. |

First Time Workshop

Learn to Turn Workshop
|
I am able to traverse the slope on either toe, heel or both edges, possibly the occasional turn. Working towards linking both turns together.

Intermediate Ride the Mountain Workshop

Riding Green &/or Blue groomed runs, will be exploring the mountain experiencing all that it has to offer, developing speed control, adventuring on to steeper terrain, intro to freestyle. |
Advanced Freeride & Freestyle Workshop
|
High level snowboarders wanting to experience the next level of all mountain riding &/or freestyle. Progress your current skills while being shown the best places to ride depending on your goals.
