Cafés & Restaurants

The cherry on top of the Cardrona experience is the mountain of treats found in our 9 different cafes and restaurants ready to feed every appetite.

We are proudly 100% free-range in all our cafés and restaurants at Cardrona. As our mountain is landfill-free, all our outlets either use compostable or recyclable packaging, or our food comes package free.

The Mezz

Location: Upstairs above Base Café.
Offering: À la carte breakfast, lunch, après and dinner.
Famous for: Eggs benedict, burgers and great daily specials.

The Mezz is the crème da la crème of Cardrona’s dining options. With à la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner from seasonal and local produce, you’re guaranteed a great feed. Get barista coffee or après beverages from the fully stocked bar. Open from 7:30 am.

Noodle Bar

Location: Upstairs above Ski Kindy and The Den
Offering:
Ramen, pad thai, laksa, dumplings, and chow mein
Famous for:
Everything noodles

Noodle Bar is our offering for delicious Asian-inspired food. Dine in for a nourishing feed, and maybe treat yourself to some sake or a loose-leaf tea on the side. Open 8-10 (coffee only), then 10am - 3.30.

Captain's Pizzeria 

Location: Captain's Basin - ski in via Shaun's Way and Highway 89.
Offering: Italian lunch menu, snacks and cabinet food.
Famous for: Big pizza energy with a view

Head out to Captain's Basin and stop in at Captain's Pizzeria for lunch. This ski-in / ski-out eatery has some of the best views on the mountain, a fully stocked bar, and world-famous-at-Cardrona pizza! You'll also find pasta, sandwiches, and local sangas pies. A Cardrona icon since 1986, there’s still no better place to enjoy an afternoon than in the sun on the pizzeria's deck. Open from 9.30-3.30.

Little Meg

Location: By the Valley View Carpark
Offering: Barista coffee, paninis, sweet treats
Famous for: Skipping the coffee queues in the Base Area

Little Meg is a real find. A local favourite because of its prime position next to the Valley View Chairlift. Stop in for a barista-made coffee and a toasted sandwich before heading directly to the slopes. Stop in for an après beverage on your way out and choose a local craft beer. Open from 8 am.

The Lounge

Location: In the Base Area, behind the retail store and across the courtyard.
Offering: Barista coffee, soups, and cabinet sweet and savoury snacks.
Famous for: Pastries and mulled wine on the slope side deck.

The Lounge is the perfect spot to recline and watch the slopes with a morning brew or an afternoon beverage! Find local wine, craft beer, spirits, delicious sweet and savoury treats, and an amazing view from the slope side deck. Open 8 am - 4.30.


Base Café

Location: Downstairs in the Main Base Building.
Offering: Freshly made grab ‘n’ go meals
Famous for: Daily changing “Mountain Meals” that fuel you up.

With plenty of savoury and sweet cabinet food that keeps energy levels up, Base Café is a great pit stop to fill up when you’re on the go. Grab an award-winning Wanaka Bakery pie, hot chips, salad or a homemade sandwich, all in compostable or recyclable packaging. Open 8 am.


 

Base Bar

Location: Downstairs in the Main Base Building - next to Base Café and rentals.
Offering: Barista coffee and smoothies, bagels, paninis and raw treats.
Famous for: The delicious healthy options and allergen-conscious options.

Base Bar is our offering for delicious and healthy food that’s great to have in, or on the go. As a completely meat-free eatery, you can easily grab a breakfast bagel in the morning and sit down for a poke bowl and a beer for lunch. Open 7:30am - 4.30.


Vista Bar

Location: Top of McDougall's Chondola.
Offering: Champagne, craft beer, coffee and snacks. 
Famous for: Mumm on the beanbag.

When you’re getting off McDougall's Express Chondola, take a break at the iconic Vista Bar. Grab a well-deserved glass of Mumm champagne, pull up a beanbag and watch the skiers and riders go by. Stop at the Icebreaker X Cardrona Swing and make sure to get the photo of you with the Whakatipu Basin backdrop. Open 10:30 am - 3.30.

Après Bar & Restaurant

Location: Off-mountain - 50 Cardrona Valley Road, Wānaka.
Offering: Champagne, craft beer, coffee, snacks and meals.
Famous for: European-inspired sharing plates and woodfired pizzas.

If you’re stopping in Wānaka, swing by Après, Cardrona and Treble Cone’s off-mountain hub. A bar, restaurant, retail store, and ticket office are all rolled into one, you can collect rentals and tickets from our expert staff and grab a bite to eat and a drink by the fire while you wait. The perfect one-stop-shop to head to before or stop in after to share your stories from the mountains.

Carol’s

Location: Cardrona Courtyard
Offering: Real fruit ice cream, mulled ginger bear and pies
Famous for: Impeccable energy absorbed from Carol Little

Carol’s food truck is Cardrona’s newest food outlet. Named after the longstanding member of the whānau and absolute legend Carol Little. Swing by and you’ll be served up delicious Pure NZ fruit ice cream and fresh pies, all with a side of outstanding energy, and heaps of fun.
