Cardrona What's On: August Snow Dump

August has arrived with 20cm of snowfall in the last 24hrs. Read all about it in this week's What's On.

We've had a couple of closed days from blizzard conditions this week, but that's meant that snow has well and truly delivered on the slopes. Cardrona and Treble Cone have both received some great dumps so the conditions are looking awesome for the weekend ahead! These are the kinds of snow drifts we were digging ourselves out of in the last 2 days:

It's a good problem to have

If you can't make it for the current conditions, Spring is still a great time to ski or ride. Our newest pass, the Spring Flexi 5 day pass is available to buy now. It works the same as our 'regular' Flexi 5 day pass which means it can be used at both Cardrona and Treble Cone, at any time from September 1. It's also valid to use even if the mountain is sold out of day or multi-day passes.

In terrain news, the Valley View chair opened last week, which means you have the option to skip some of the drive to Base building. Park at Valley View carpark and hop on the chairlift there. Skip coffee queues too, and grab your morning wakeup from the Little Meg Café, located beside the carpark. There's a pickup kiosk there too, so if you've not got your physical pass yet, you can scan your confirmation barcode and it'll print there and then.

Weather Forecast

Today's cloud should clear to some blue skies and sunshine! While the rest of the weekend is looking mild and overcast with some light snow. It's looking like a 'dress for all outcomes' weekend, which means layers, sunscreen, and windproof jackets. Open the Snow Report from 6.30 am daily to see what conditions are like every day.

Treble Cone

TC hasn't been left out of the snowfall, banking 45cm over the last 24 hours. There's going to be awesome skiing/riding some fluffy laps and groomed runs. There may be a delay on The Saddle with control work, but they're aiming to have The Summit open.

Altitude Cafe will also be open today for epic views with a side of pizza, coffee, or bubbles! You can find this hidden gem just below the top of Home Basin Chair, and at the top of Big Skite run.

Now's a great time to visit TC, take some turns and check out one of the best views in New Zealand. If you're coming from Queenstown, consider allowing us to take the wheel. Check out our bus transport options here.

Events

We're hosting events across Cardrona and TC this weekend, read below to find out:

Friday, August 4, we'll be hosting Wānaka Ski Masters at Cardrona. Ski Masters this year will consist of a GS race on Friday morning.

Saturday, August 5, we're also hosting T-Ski Gnarlom at Treble Cone. Think of an off-piste slalom race down gnarly terrain in the saddle or Powderbowl. The route includes bumps, jumps and some drops so this is for advanced skiers only.

Keep reading the weekly What's On to stay in the loop, or check our events page.

Terrain Parks

McPark is fully loaded with new features right now while Antlers Alley is open after a reshape. After the storm, keep an eye out for lots more park and park festires to be popping up!
