Cardrona What's On: School Hols - Week 2!

After a few days of big snowstorms, it's looking super wintry up here and we're leading into an awesome second week of the July school holidays!

Today is a bluebird day on the mountain after a week of very stormy weather, and it's been awesome to see all your support with a busy day at Cardrona today. Those storms have done their job – there is a lot of snow up here and we're in really good shape ahead of the second week of the school holidays.

All this snow means we're opening up more and more every day. Captain's is now groomed, and the terrain park boys have been very busy (you can read about it below). Keep reading to see what the weather has in store for us the next few days, and all the amazing stuff that's happening on the mountain!

With some good weather in the forecast, please try and carpool - fill your car as much as possible. That will help us keep the road nice and clear so we can all get up the mountain safely.

weather

Snow-Forecast.com are calling a little dusting of snow overnight on Saturday/Sunday morning, clearing to a mostly fine week!

terrain parks

Today the Antlers Alley intermediate jump line opened for the first time this season, and so did the top half of Stag Lane! The bottom half of Stag Lane will be ready tomorrow (Saturday) and the Lil' Bucks jumps will be in place next week. Big ups to the Park Crew and grooming team for some big nights getting this all ready!

events

The next event up at Cardrona is the Wanaka Ski and Snowsports Club's Race ya Mates event after it was postponed due to bad weather. It will now take place on July 19th. We're also holding advanced snowboard weekend sessions with two of New Zealand's best snowboard coaches on July 18th and 19th – check out the Facebook event for more info.

Our friends at Protect our Winters and Te Kakano Aotearoa Trust are holding a tree planting and maintenance day on the Wanaka lakefront tomorrow, so if you're planning on having a day off the slopes you can join them and do a little something for our local community and environment. They're doing amazing work so keep an eye on their Facebook pages for more info, and check out tomorrow's Facebook event here.
