Cardrona What's On: Stormy September

After another awesome few days on the slopes, it looks like we're heading into a stormy start to next week...

If there's one thing we can say about September, it's that it seems to have taken on the challenge of making up for August - at this stage, it's looking pretty stormy and snowy next week! This past week we've had our fair share of bluebird days, and it's exciting to see another change for the snowier in the forecast.

A big thanks to everyone who joined in with Dragon Week this week - we gave away heaps of Dragon Alliance gear and we were stoked at how you all got involved. Watch this space for another social media competition starting next week... this is one that the whole family can get involved with!

Please join our Cardrona Snow Reports Facebook group or follow our Twitter account so you can keep up to date on what the snow and weather conditions are like each day, how our facilities are running, and what's happening with our on-mountain events.

weather

SnowsBest.com are showing a mostly fine weekend, with the storm rolling in on Sunday night and into Monday. It's starting off warmer with possibly a bit of rain to start off, then turning to some decent snowfall overnight Monday and Tuesday.

If you're in the backcountry this week, don't forget to record what you observe through the NZ Mountain Safety Council's Avalanche Advisory page.

terrain parks

We finally have a halfpipe! It's a bit shorter than a normal year, but this isn't a normal year and we're so stoked to get a pipe going for 2020.

The lads also changed up a couple of features in Stag Lane last night, and they're working really hard on a great spring park for everyone.

events

Tomorrow is our first FIS Slopestyle event for the season, the Torpedo7 NZ Slopestyle Showdown! It'll be an awesome show of our local freeski and snowboard talent as they battle it out for FIS points on home soil.

Over at TC, it's looking pretty similar in terms of weather over the next week... except add a few cms of snow! They've extended their season for another week, so next week is the last one to get your TC turns in - Closing Day is set for Sunday, September 20. Remember if you've got a multi-day pass you can also use a day to squeeze in one last Treble Cone shred before the end of the season.

For all daily updates, join the Treble Cone Facebook Snow Reports group.

Here's one of TC's locals going a quick edge check this week:
