Over Easter we are sending off summer with two epic mountain bike events, live music, a minibike challenge, a Willows and Soho experience, and an Easter egg hunt for the kids.
The long weekend kicks off on Friday with our last TGIF for the summer - we're open till 8pm for the last evening of mountain biking, mountain carting and hiking for 2021.
On Saturday, we're holding the Torpedo7 Super-D. This is a 3 hour endurance downhill where individual riders complete as many laps of Ridge Rider as possible in 3 hours. Prizes are awarded for Masters, Open and Junior (U14) age divisions plus we’ll have tons of great spot prizes to give away thanks to Torpedo7.
For the entertainment of others and to challenge riders we’ve added some enduro-cross style features to our base area flow trail and put in a timing system. Each day we’ll be hosting 1 hour of timed runs down the course on 16" minibikes (we'll provide the bikes!) with spot prizes awarded daily. Winners will be announced after the final round on Monday, plus we’ll post some video footage of the race runs… and fails.
On Sunday our GM Bridget Legnavsky is inviting everyone to join her for a tour of the Willows lift installation and Soho developments. The tour provides an opportunity to see the progress of the lift construction and get an insight into Cardrona’s future and long-term vision. You'll need a gondola ride pass for this tour!
Before the lift stop turning on Monday April 5th, riders will get one last chance to race down the Peak to the Pub in the Torpedo 7 Mega Avalanche. This is a mass start, first to the finish race where riders can take any of our bike park trails to the finish at the Cardrona Hotel. Cart tracks and the ski trails are “out of bounds”, so local knowledge is key to reaching the finish first. As always, we’ll wind up the season with refreshments and food thanks to our friends at the Cardrona Hotel.
Whatever your plans for Easter, make sure you head up to Cardrona Bike Park and send off summer in style. Join us either on the start line for our fun social racing or with the family for biking, music, refreshment, social catch ups and fun. Visit www.cardrona.com/events for more info.
