U8, U10, U12, U14 & U16 Race Programmes

The Cardrona Alpine Ski Team Junior programmes are for kids in the U6 to U12 age groups. If you’ve got a young skier looking to get into ski racing or develop their skills, we have a programme to suit them!

2018 Age Groups

U6 – born in 2013 or later
U8 – born in 2011/2012
U10 – born in 2009/2010
U12 – born in 2007/2008
U14 – born in 2005/2006
U16 – born in 2003/2004


Programmes

Full-time ski race programmes are for ski racers who can commit to a whole season of training, 5 days a week.

Part-time ski race programmes are for racers looking to develop their skills, potentially trying to fit around their school commitments. We have various part-time programme options depending on each athlete’s age, skill level & needs.

What’s Included

Eligibility

All U8, U10 & U12 athletes must currently belong to Snow Sports New Zealand to be eligible to enter Youth Series & Interfield events.

All U14 & U16 athletes must currently belong to a ski club (such as Wanaka Ski & Snow Sports Club) & hold a current Ski Racing New Zealand license available from Snow Sports NZ.


Equipment Requirements

U10, U12, U14 & U16

  • Slalom & Giant Slalom skis
  • A helmet & back protector are compulsory for all training & racing
  • Physical training clothes & running shoes

U6 & U8

  • Good carving skis
  • A helmet & backprotectorare compulsory for all training & racing
