Cardrona and Treble Cone have a long history of providing quality training and facilities to help young snow sports athletes along their competitive pathways.
The Wanaka Ski Team is the combination of Team TC and Cardrona Alpine Ski Team - with two mountains coming together, we thought it was about time that two of the country's best ski race programmes did too! The Wanaka Ski Team has programmes for junior racers just starting out, all the way through to FIS level athletes, and trains across both mountains when conditions allow.
The Cardrona Parks Squad calls the Southern Hemisphere's most extensive terrain parks and pipes their home. Cardrona is home to four progressive terrain parks for all levels of freestylers, two halfpipes, a big air jump and a gravity-x course. The Cardrona Parks Squad coaches are some of the best in the game, and will help athletes learn new tricks and iron out kinks in their style, all in a safe, fun team environment.
The TC Freeride Programme is led by Kiwi Freeride World Tour athlete and Sam Lee, and trains on some of New Zealand's best freeride terrain at Treble Cone. TC's natural bowls, halfpipes, chutes, cliffs, steeps and side hits make it the ideal training ground for young freeride athletes. Sam and his team will help their young athletes progress their skiing and mentor them through local freeride competitions.
If your child is under 10 years old, can confidently ski/board from the top of the mountain, and is looking to extend their skiing or snowboarding with a season-long programme, the Development Programme is designed specifically for them. The Development Programme takes the youngest skiers/snowboarders and introduces them to a training and team environment, while developing core skills and techniques across all freestyle snow sports disciplines (slopestyle, halfpipe and freeride). The goal of the Development Programme is to grow a passion for snow sports in the youngest members of our snow sports community – because every talented skier or snowboarder starts somewhere!
