Full Season 

June 20 - 2 October

any 5 days per week / 15 weeks

Cardrona & Treble Cone

Weekly Training (minimum 2 weeks)

*Please note: FIS programmes are not on set days and training may be any 5 days of the week depending on the snow and weather conditions, athlete fatigue and the race schedule (this can be found on the race calendar page of WST's website, FIS website or SSNZ website)

What's Included

  • On-snow training
    • June 20 - Oct 2
    • 5 days training per week at Cardrona & Treble Cone is advised, but 3 or 4 days may be negotiated under certain circumstances that require flexibility.
  • Ability assessment and group allocation (at the discretion of the Head Coach)
  • Technical development and gate training 
  • Video analysis
  • Lift line priority 
  • Season-long goal setting


  • Season pass for Cardrona and Treble Cone (HPC adult passes are available. Please contact to arrange this)
  • FIS Team jacket
  • Costs to travel to races and lift passes at other mountains
  • Membership to Proactive Gym (discounted WST rates are available)
  • We recommend that athletes bring their own ski tuning equipment (ski vices, wax iron etc). Alternatively, ski tuning can be organised with a daily race tune and wax season-long through our on hill workshop.
  • Homestay is available for FIS athletes
  • Daily transport to and from training with pick up and drop off at your home or accommodation – must be booked in advance. 

Race & Training Eligibility 

All FIS athletes must have a current FIS licence in order to both train and race.

NZ and International FIS athletes must have a current FIS licence in order to both train and race. New Zealand athletes must also belong to Wanaka Ski & Snow Sports Club (unless already a member of another NZ ski club) and all athletes must be a current member of Snow Sports NZ.

International athletes must enter races directly through their race federation or provide a letter of authorisation from your federation to allow the FIS Head Coach to enter the races for you.

Equipment Requirements

  • Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G skis (FIS Homologated)
  • A FIS regulation helmet and back protector are compulsory for all training and racing
  • Physical training clothes and running shoes
