Our programmes are customised to meet your every need for both you and your athlete!  

If you're in a programme for 8 or more weeks, your season-long coach will work with you to achieve your goals for the season.

Depending on each athlete’s age, skill level and needs, we offer part-time and full time ski race programmes where you can continue to develop your technical free skiing and racing skills.

Group selections are based on an assessment of basic skill, race experience and technical skiing ability.

What’s Included

  • On-snow training
    • June 20 - October 2nd 
    • Training with your coach (this may change due to group sizes and dynamics)
    • From 3 - 5 days per week training options (2 days can be arranged if preferred)
  • Weekly fitness training 
    • U14 - 16:  Wednesday & Friday
    • U6 - 12:  Wednesday 
  • Ability assessment and group allocation (at the discretion of the Head Coach)
  • Technical development and gate training 
  • Video analysis
  • Lift line priority 
  • Training and race videos can be provided on request
  • Season long goal setting


  • Season pass for Cardrona and Treble Cone
  • Branded Team outer ski jacket (required)
  • Wanaka Ski Team softshell/ puffer (if available)
  • Costs to travel to races, lift passes and entry at other mountains 
  • We recommend that athletes bring their own ski tuning equipment (ski vices, wax iron etc). Alternatively, ski tuning can be organised with a daily race tune and wax season-long or casually at Outside Sport or casually at The Waxroom. Please contact them directly for more information. 
  • Bump your school holiday training up to 5 days per week for an additional cost. Please contact us for a quote.
  • September/ October race training private lessons are available on request with your preferred coach, please contact us.
  • Spring School Holiday training (October 4th - 8th / October 11th - 15th)

U12 - 16 Added Extras

  • Homestay is available at $400/week. Please check out our Athlete Homestay info page and fill out the form to express your interest.
  • Transport to and from Cardrona/Treble Cone is available in conjunction with your selected training programme for U14, U16 & FIS. Please contact us for more information. Spaces are limited and are offered to athletes training at FIS level first, followed by U16 athletes.

Eligibility to race

All junior athletes (both NZ and International) must belong to Wanaka Ski & Snow Sports Club (unless already a member of another NZ ski club) and be a current member of Snow Sports NZ (a FIS licence is not required).

U14 - 16 athletes must ensure they have purchased a National Points licence so that they can compete in the series.

Equipment Requirements

U12 - U16

  • Slalom and Giant Slalom skis or a very good kombi ski
  • A helmet and back protector are compulsory for all training and racing
  • Physical training clothes and running shoes

U6, U8 and U10

  • Good carving skis
  • A helmet and back protector are compulsory for all training and racing
  • Physical training clothes and running shoes
