Snowboard Courses

Instructor Training Centre offers a variety of snowboard instructor courses depending on the SBINZ qualifications you want to achieve this winter!

Training with the Cardrona Treble Cone ITC gives you the opportunity to sit many different snowboard instructor exams. We offer training for qualifications including the SBINZ Level 1, 2 & 3 instructing certifications.

SBINZ Snowboard Level 1

The SBINZ Snowboard Level 1 Certification is the entry-level instructor’s course aimed at people interested in joining the snow sports industry. Instructors qualified at this level of certification can teach up to making first turns on beginner terrain, & entry level freestyle.

With ITC you can sit your Level 1 as part of our Level 1 course, or as part of your pathway on the Level 1 & 2 course.

SBINZ Snowboard Level 2

The SBINZ Snowboard Level 2 Certification is aimed at instructors wanting to progress within the snow sports industry to teaching students at higher levels. The minimum requirement to sit the Level 2 Certification is Snowboard Level 1, or equivalent foreign qualification.

Instructors qualified at this level can teach anything up to carving on intermediate terrain, intermediate freestyle & an introduction to off-piste riding. At  ITC you can sit your Level 2 as part of our Level 2 only course, or after you’ve gained your Level 1 qualification on our Level 1 & 2 course.

SBINZ Snowboard Level 3

The SBINZ Snowboard Level 3 Certification is aimed at working instructors wanting to progress in the snow sports industry to teaching students in all-mountain & elementary terrain park situations. The minimum pre-requisite for the Level 3 Cert is SBINZ Level 2, or equivalent foreign qualifications, & the Children’s Teaching Certification.

The ITC offers a specific training programme for Level 3 applicants to prepare them in the best way possible to sit their Level 3 exam.

Otago Polytechnic Snowboard

The ITC also runs the Otago Polytechnic Certificate in Snow Sport Instructing, which prepares mostly New Zealand-based students to become snowboard instructors. These students will have the opportunity to sit both the Level 1 & 2 NZSIA certifications. Learn more >
