The Cardrona Grom Team is made up of a solid crew of young shredders training to become professional skiers & snowboarders. Read their profiles to get to know our youngest team members!
To say Ben comes from a keen skiing family is an understatement. His Dad, Greg, who is a former moguls skier & a Cardrona Park Squad coach, had Ben skiing between his legs before he was 2. These days as a teenager he still spends time skiing with his family, but also lapping Big Bucks Park with the top dogs, constantly looking to step his game up. Ben has been a consistent performer at the Cardrona NZ Junior Nationals & various competitions in New Zealand & abroad. He is now competing in FIS events & you can be sure to see him pop up on the starting list of many high profile competitions in the near future. Ben not only loves freeskiing but also roller blading, hockey & trampolining.
Luca 'Huck' Harrington is definitely one of the most stoked groms on the mountain! He always skis like he's having the most fun out there & even at a ripe age, he's willing to help & encourage the younger groms to do the same. While you'll usually find Luca doing laps in Cardrona Parks, he's not just a park rat. A talented all-rounder, Luca has taken top honours for his age group in the Cardrona NZ Junior Nationals. Luca is definitely one to watch, not only on his skis but in whatever he does... whether it's dirt biking, playing football, trampolining or playing live music, this kid kills it.
The fact that Fin is the only skier in a family of snowboarders proves he's quite the determined grom! At a very young age Fin has had countless seasons on his skis & it clearly shows. You can see Fin riding 10 different ways on any given day. Whether it's riding pow, dropping rocks, park laps, hitting the pipe... he's even been known to ski through race gates switch. He's had his fair share of podium results, his best to date being overall champion of his division in the 2013 NZ Cardrona Junior Nationals. When Fin's not chasing winters with his family, you'll find him swimming, skating, playing football or tearing around on his mountain bike.
Don't let his small stature fool you, this kid is a charger! Cam has been hitting Cardrona with his twin brother Fin since the age of 3 & is a dedicated snowboarder. One of his favourite places at Cardrona is the Olympic pipe & he can often be spotted hiking up there before the mountain opens. His commitment to his board paid off in 2013 when he claimed the overall top spot in his division at the Cardrona NZ Junior Nationals. When he's not busting out methods in Antlers Alley, or getting upside down in the pipe, Cam can be found sessioning his skate ramp, trampolining, mountain biking or playing at the lake.
With the legendary AJ (Aaron Jamieson) as his dad, Rocco has snowboarding in his blood & is stacked with style beyond his years. He started shredding at just 2 years old, being towed around by a dog lead attached to a snow skate. Like his dad, this grom's got some serious talent & pop in his legs, regularly busting big moves in the parks & pipe. On powder days you can usually find him sessioning a backcountry kicker, testing his signature backflip method, or unleashing some outstanding pow turns. With countless seasons under his belt, Rocco's racked up some impressive results including top honours at the Cardrona NZ Junior Nationals for his division. Rocco is a pure 'ride for the love of it' shredder. Off the snow, this mellow cat can be found breakdancing, skating, wakeboarding, surfing or playing footy.
This keen young skier been shredding since he could walk & he's been going hard every winter (& sometimes summer) since then! Max is a true all-rounder, taking podiums in both ski racing & freestyle events. Max has an extensive trick book that seems to get larger every time he hits the park & is definitely one to look out for on the national competitive circuits! His discipline to skiing has paid off with a string of impressive results in both racing & freeskiing, including various first place finishes in the Cardrona NZ Junior Nationals. It's hard to find him off snow, but when he's not in the Northern Hemisphere over summer, he'll be charging downhill, hitting kickers on his mountain bike or scoring goals on the soccer pitch.
