With all the snow we've got up here, we thought we'd extend the Cardrona winter season for 2018 by another week!
Unless you've been deliberately avoiding all Kiwi ski area social media because the FOMO is too much to bear, you'll know that Tuesday was one for the books! Almost 55cm of fresh snow fell on Monday up here at Cardrona, & on Tuesday heaps of locals cashed in their powder day clauses to claim some of the best lines of the season.
With all this snow, it only seems fair that we stick around for another week to see off the season how we started it. We'll have theMcDougall's Chondola & the Learner Conveyors open until October 21so everyone in the region can come get their snow fix! The rest of the lifts will close as originally planned on October 14 (snow/weather dependent).
There's plenty of season left, some of our most fun events coming up, & if the forecast is to be believed... more snow on the way!!
For the weekend ahead, Saturday is looking like the pick of the days according to Snow-Forecast.com. Sunday afternoon looks like the beginning of a good ol' fashioned Spring snow storm which seems to be coming in & out for a lot of the week. If it follows the long range forecast, there'll be a few pow stashes to be found throughout next week, with a bluebird day on Friday to go hunting!
We've got a tonne of events coming up in the next couple of weeks that we can't wait to get involved in! Coming up are:
The North Face Terrain Park Crew have had a mega events season, with big builds for Audi quattro Winter Games NZ & the Monster Energy Jossi Wells Invitational. Now they're having a blast with the spring conditions (apart from, you know, digging features out of 54cm of snow...). They're currently filming their entry for the 2018 Battle of the Parks, against all the other park crews in New Zealand. Keep an eye out on the New Zealand Snowboarding Instagram feed to see how you can help them win!!
Things to look out for
