What a week of fresh lines & epic times! We're now heading full steam into events season – August is gonna be an epic month of action!
The school holidays are over & we're really into the full swing of winter. This week we've kicked off our school skiing programmes, & it's been awesome to see the next generation of skiers & snowboarders hitting the slopes for their first days of lessons for Winter 2018. Not to mention some epic days of fresh lines this week... it's been SO good up here!
Next week we're officially in August... this is the meaty part of the season where our events kick in, including the start of this year's Audi quattro Winter Games NZ at the end of the month. This is the time of year when the snow is in top condition – it's time to get your crew up here, ride some fresh lines, have a few cheeky aprés, & check out some of the world's best in action.
The weather over the next week is looking like a combo of sun, clouds & snow according to the team at Snow-Forecast.com. Keep an eye on our Snow Report for the best days & times to come up – the snow's gonna keep getting topped up so it'll be in great condition!
Tomorrow we've got the Macpac Tour de Cardies ski touring race – it's back on after it was cancelled during the Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival. Enter on the day, it's looking like a super fun race!
We kick off our August events season with the FIS Tech Series from August 1-4, with some of the world's best ski racers in FIS points races (which help towards World Cup & Olympic qualification). The ski racing continues next Sunday (August 5) with the Cardrona Junior Interfields race for our younger racers.
We've also got a new date for the 2nd Park Attack Slopestyle that was postponed due to some gnarly weather – we'll see you all on August 18 to put it all down!
The Park Crew have been getting creative... there are a few new features & layouts! Check out their Instagram feed & stories for new builds as they happen – there are some pretty big features that are really close to opening!
Things to look out for
Did you know that you can have dinner in Mezz? It is SUCH good food & they're open right the way through from 7.30am each day till 9pm at night. Yep, that means you can have a couple of aprés up the mountain, then grab a delicious dinner before heading home for the evening! Or add on a stargazing experience for one heck of a good day up at Cardrona.
We're heading into the business end of winter right now... we'll see you up here for some turns soon!
