Here we go... this week is the 2018 Monster Energy Jossi Wells Invitational up at Cardrona!
We've had a wicked time hosting the Audi quattro Winter Games NZ the last couple of weeks – it all finishes up tomorrow with Men's Snowboard Big Air World Cup finals. Today Cardrona Team skier Finn Bilous absolutely smashed it, claiming his first ever World Cup podium right here at home! He finished up in 3rd place behind ABM & Evan McEachran.
We're keeping the competition season going this coming week with something completely different, the 2018 Monster Energy Jossi Wells Invitational! The format is a bit switched up this year – check out all the info under "Events" below.
We've got a few more sunny days ahead of us, according to the forecasting team at SnowsBest.com. Could be a couple of wee skiffs of snow before another sunny day on Wednesday... gotta love spring on the mountain!
This year Jossi is switching things up a bit – the 2018 #JWInvitational is made up of 3 days of jams:
- Thursday, September 13 - Park Rail Jam
- Friday, September 14 - Halfpipe Jam (with Rail features)
- Saturday, September 15 - BIG AIR Finals
The event is all rider-judged, & the titles will go to the male & female skier/snowboarder who impresses across all 3 days of competition. There are also awards for best trick on each day, as well as overall best style. We'll be keeping an eye on the weather throughout the week & picking the best weather days, so check out our social feeds for any changes to the schedule!
Things in the Parks are soooo much fun right now! The North Face Cardrona Park Crew are changing up features on the regular, and spring park sessions are on. There's a wicked crew of pro riders in town – you can watch a real show from Whitestar Express at the moment!
Things to look out for
Remember we're still doing our GoPro #MyCardrona photo & video competition! You've got just a couple of weeks left to submit your GoPro photos & videos to win... there is a LOT of cash on the line & some epic GoPro prizes so make sure you get your entries in by September 30.
If you're just getting your ski legs in & you want to shred the whole rest of the season, you can still grab a Spring season pass online or in our offices in Queenstown, Wanaka or on the mountain. We'll see you up here soon!
