We're supporting Protect Our Winters (POW) this weekend at Cardrona!
We've had an epic week of fresh turns & bluebird days up at Cardrona! The snow is in top shape – it's been a fantastic start to the 2018 winter season. Next week marks the start of the Aussie school holidays, so a huge welcome to everyone coming from across the ditch! We've got some top tips to make your family ski holiday run like a dream, so give them a read to help get you sorted before you arrive.
Tomorrow (Saturday June 30), we're having a POW day at Cardrona! We're supporting the incredible environmental work done by the team at Protect Our Winters (POW), by making our Pine Trees Shuttle (from the 1km mark) just $5 return, with all proceeds going to POW! If you'd rather drive your own car, we're encouraging you to pick up some stragglers & fill your car up – until midday (or when it's full), our top carpark will be limited to cars with four people or more in them. We love our maunga & we're super stoked to support such a great organisation to help protect it!
The weather ahead for next week is looking like we'll have a bit of everything! The team at Metservice are forecasting a week of snow (10cm on Sunday...!) & sunshine – keep an eye on our Snow Report each day for what the outlook is for the day, it's updated by 6.30am every day.
After all the fun that was the Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival, we're now looking ahead to our awesome kids' events for the July School Holidays! We kick everything off with Park Attack Slopestyle #1 in Lil' Bucks for all levels of kids aged 14 & under on July 11, then we move to big mountain with Piki Maunga Rangatahi (Big Mountain Youth) on July 15. The holidays wrap up with Park Attack #2 for the bigger kids in Antlers Alley/Stag Lane on July 21.
Entries are open for all events now & there are awesome prizes up for grabs!
There are a couple of new features in Stag Lane to look out for – the Cardrona Parks Crew have been making some tweaks here & there. Next on the list is the first jump in Big Bucks... keep an eye out for it next week!
Our GoldX Events crew & Snow Sports NZ have been putting out our fancy new landing bag next to the Big Air today, which is gonna be a great facility for our Kiwi athletes as try to land their next big tricks.
Things to look out for
The Beauty Bus is back! Pop in & say hi to Alecia & her team – if you need a pampering, she's got you sorted! You can book treatments online at the Silver Sixpence website.
There's always a whooole lotta fun stuff going on up here – we're looking forward to seeing everyone these school holidays! Remember if you have a Saver season pass then today (Friday) is your last day of riding before the blackout. If the conditions are just tooooo good & you need to come up (it happens!), then you can top up with a day ski pass online!
