Pipelines Ski Report August 18, 2017

This Pipelines Ski Report we're getting hyped – some of the world's best are descending on Cardrona...

It's full steam ahead into Events season! This week we kicked things off with the FIS Continental Cup, with Cardrona team skier Nico Porteous taking top honours in the Ski Halfpipe event. It was a great warmup for the World Cup events that kick off next weekend with the Audi quattro Winter Games NZ! Check out all the results here.

We've had some incredible snow conditions over the past week. Last Sunday we had around 25cm of fresh snow, with fresh lines still found three days later! Check out the guys heading out on a powder hunt:

This week is looking pretty good! There could be some weather coming in & out – the team at Snow-Forecast have a wee skiff of snow forecast for tonight & some more on Sunday. Fresh lines on Monday, anyone...?

It's been a mega week of events this week with the FIS Continental Cups in ski & snowboard halfpipe & slopestyle. Big congratulations to all the riders who earned valuable FIS points ahead of the Winter Games NZ FIS World Cups which kick off next week! All WGNZ events are FREE to watch so head up the mountain to check out all the action!

Tomorrow the Dakine Snowboard Banked Slalom kicks off at 10.45am – if you want to enter you can do it online here, otherwise on-mountain registration/bib collection is open until 8.30am. The 2nd Base Park Attack Slopestyle follows on Sunday; slopestyle for U16 skiers & snowboarders in Stag Lane/Antlers Alley. You can still register online here!

We're all lining up for the big one – the Audi quattro Winter Games NZ kicks off this coming week! The first event at Cardrona is the FIS Freeski World Cup Slopestyle, with qualifiers on August 26 & finals the next day on the 27th. Make sure you come on up & watch the Kiwis take on the world's best, it's gonna be a good one!

The Big Air is DONE & open to public on good weather days – keep an eye on the Snow Report to see if it'll be open each day. The International Halfpipe is almost completed next to its big brother the Olympic Superpipe... we can't wait for minipipe sessions! The team are currently hard at work building the Winter Games NZ slopestyle course; watch this space for how it all turns out!

Early Parks laps this week with Woodsy Woods, Luke Hughes, Christy Prior & JJ Rayward.
