The storm hit this week – the Pipelines Ski Report this week is all about how crazy good the snow is & what's coming up!
The first week of the NZ school holidays was all about "that storm". We got hit with about a day & a half of snow, with a solid 10cm across the mountain, & wind-blown pockets of 30cm... freshies have been ON! The Lounge, our slopeside aprés bar, opened for the first time last Saturday & it's been a hit – especially with everyone who wants to fire off a few emails between runs in our upstairs work area.
We've got a full on week coming up, not only is it the last week of the school holidays, but it looks like we've got some awesome weather & three great youth events to get your kids stoked on skiing & riding. Keep on reading to see how it's all shaping up...
It's looking pretty good the next few days... Snow-Forecast are predicting a mostly clear week with moderate temperatures. Make sure you keep an eye on our Snow Report & Webcams for live conditions as they develop!
Our youth events kick off TOMORROW with our Big Mountain/Freeride event! We've also got two slopestyles on this coming week, so make sure you register your young rippers early to avoid the queues on the day.
- Pīki Maunga Rangatahi (Big Mountain Youth), tomorrow July 16
- Park Attack Slopestyle - Lil' Bucks, July 19
- Park Attack Slopestyle - Antlers Alley, July 21
Things to check out
We've still got a truckload of Nature Valley™ bars to give away. They'll be all over the mountain so keep an eye out & grab a bar to keep you going out on the slopes these school holidays!
Deals & Tips
Tubing has kicked off for 2017! Tubing for 2017 is running on a new course under the McDougall's Chondola. You can walk there easily from the Base! Pick up your tubing passes from the Ticket Office – tubing runs on the hour for hour-long sessions. There are 12 tubing spots per hour, so book in quick! If your kids are 1m or taller, they must ride in their own tube. Littler kids can ride with an adult (you only pay for the adult).
Our top tip for the school holidays is use the Drop Off Zone! You can drop your family off right next to the Base buildings, our hosts team can help you with your gear, then park in one of the carparks & walk or catch the free shuttle back up to the top. It saves your littlies struggling to carry their own gear from their car (& you having to take theirs as well as yours when it all goes pear-shaped!).
We hope you all have a magical second week of the holidays, it looks like it's gonna be a good one up here! Clear skies, heaps of snow... what else could you want?!
