Pipelines Ski Report - June 17, 2017

Welcome to the first Pipelines ski report for Winter 2017! These posts are our way of letting you know what's been happening at Cardrona, & what's going on in the next week.

Pipelines will be published every Saturday morning at 10am & shared on Facebook so you don't miss any of the important stuff. We're coming at you with all you need to know about Cardrona over the week that was & the week that will be; including weather forecasts, event & terrain park updates, deals & more.

McDougall's, Captain's, Whitestar & the Learner Conveyors are all open – we're getting more trails & Valley View Quad open as snow allows. A big shoutout to our grooming & snowmaking teams who are doing a great job in early season conditions to get everything going as soon as possible!

Weather

It's been a turbulent old week up at Cardrona, with almost everything thrown at us! We've had blustery winds, snow flurries, blizzards & clear/fine days... it's been anything but boring up here!

This coming week snow-forecast.com are predicting a wee dusting of snow on Sunday night & a pretty clear rest of the week, so should be a great week to cut some laps...

Maybe some snow??

Events

Obviously our big event from the last week was the massive McDougall's Chondola Opening Ceremony! It was so wicked to see so many people come out to check out the new lift. We're seeing all sorts of people using the Chondola every day – from everyone using it to head out to Captain's, to little kids learning to ski, to sightseeing guests in jeans & street shoes just wanting to admire the view & have a bevvy at the top of the mountain! It's awesome to see one lift do it all & we can't wait to hear what you all think over the next few months.

Big thanks to the Mount Aspiring College Kapa Haka group for braving the cold to welcome our new lift!

Parks

The Cardrona Parks crew have done a great job getting a few features up in the Beginners' Area. They're working closely with the snowmaking & grooming teams to get snow into Lil' Bucks & Stag Lane, looking to get features in those parks this coming week. Keep an eye on the Cardrona Parks Facebook page for terrain park updates & check back here each week to find out what's open or has changed.

Things to check out

This year we have the legends from Black Peak Gelato selling delicious, locally-produced ice cream at the bottom of our access road. Stop by on your way home for the cherry on top of an awesome day at Cardies!

Michelle Veysey's competition-winning "Straight Out of Cardrona" t-shirts are also in stock at the Cardrona General Store on the mountain. They're only $59 so are gonna go quick...

Deals

It's the perfect time to learn to ski at Cardrona – we're still a couple of weeks out from the July school holidays so group lessons are quieter, & there are absolutely no lift lines. If you're booking in for a First Timer's Package you also get one ride up on the McDougall's Chondola to check out the top of the mountain... book your first timer ski or snowboard lesson here, & check out our tips for your first day on the snow here.

There are still spots available on our Instructor Training Cardrona Weekend Warrior ski & snowboard instructor courses. Email itc@cardrona.com to leave the desk behind & start living the dream this winter!

Week 2 is going to be a whole lot of fun – get those turns in early & get ready for another epic winter at Cardrona!
