The first Pipelines Ski Report for September is frothing... what an awesome first week of the Winter Games NZ!
The Audi quattro Winter Games NZ has been SO much fun so far! We've had two FIS Freeski World Cup events up at Cardrona, now it's the snowboarders' turn. We were so stoked to see three Cardrona Team skiers in the top 10 for Freeski Halfpipe today – congratulations Miguel Porteous, Nico Porteous & Beau-James Wells, it's an exciting season coming up for them for sure!
We've got two more FIS World Cup events this week – we'll be cheering on Carlos Garcia-Knight, Tiarn Collins, Christy Prior & Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (did you hear Zoi just got signed by Red Bull!?) as they take the stage in Snowboard Slopestyle Qualifiers on Sunday.
Don't forget the week after is the Monster Energy Jossi Wells Invitational! Last year it was the most fun day up on the mountain so you really, really don't want to miss it... We'll have livestream details for you in next week's Pipelines. September 12-15, with finals on the 15th – be there or be square!
This week has been a mix of clear blue skies followed by a couple of days of clouds... this coming week our friends at Mountainwatch reckon we're going to keep the sun, & swap out the clouds for a wee bit of snow! A start of Spring top up would be awesome so let's see what the front brings in...

The Parks are looking sweeeet for the Winter Games NZ – a MASSIVE shout out to the Parks Crew for getting it all built & maintained for the World Cup events, they've done such a great job!
This week they turn their attention back to the Slopestyle course for Snowboard Slopestyle, then next weekend they're heading over to the Olympic Superpipe for the Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup.
The Big Air is OPEN to the public every good weather day – some incredible skiing & riding has been happening on that jump so make sure you check it out when you're up next (even if you're not hitting it!).
Things to check out
During Winter Games NZ, there are a few things to check out:
The Mumm Club de Neige is running every Finals day with two more big parties scheduled – Monday September 4 & the last day of the Games, September 9. It's transforming our Courtyard into Party Central... you've gotta go & have a boogie!
At the top of Whitestar, the Corona Bar is the perfect viewing platform for the Slopestyle events! The team up there have got great deals on Coronas, as well as food & toilets, so it's really the place to be. The easiest way to get to it is from the top of the McDougall's Chondola, & take an easy stroll, ski or board down.
