Ski Report – August 6, 2016

Brrrr! We’ve had a chilly few days up here - this week’s ski report message has been to wrap up warm!

We’ve had another exciting week up at Cardrona, with the first FIS ski races of the season, Level 1 Ski & Snowboard Instructor courses & the start of school skiing!

We also had another pretty amazing powder day on Wednesday – One News even came up to check it out (story starts 4mins in)!

Snow Report

Metservice are predicting a very cold August, with some fine weather next week – so basically the snow’s going to be in tip top shape, & the sun will be out for you to enjoy it! Dress warmly if you're coming to watch the Jossi Wells Invitational this week!

Monster Energy presents the Jossi Wells Invitational, Cardrona NZ

This coming week we’re welcoming some of the world’s best skiers & snowboarders to battle out our local shredders for bragging rights & a share of a $20,000 cash purse! The Jossi Wells Invitational is going down this week, with practice from Tuesday, & finals scheduled for Saturday the 13th.

Coming up to watch? Check out all the action from the “fan zones” at the bottom of McDougall’s Quad & Noodle Bar, with a snow bar brought to you by Altitude Brewery, & giveaways from the legends at Monster Energy & Dragon Alliance! If you’re on skis or a board & you want the ultimate viewpoint, head up to Skyline Trail & sit on the ridge to see the pros throw down on the MASSIVE Big Air jump!

FIS Tech Series

On Tuesday & Wednesday we hosted the first FIS ski race of the season, with Slalom & Giant Slalom events. Kiwi Piera Hudson took top honours on the women’s podium for Slalom – what a champ! Check out all the action & results in the full recap here.

Billabong Banked Slalom

On August 20 Billabong are bringing their Banked Slalom event to Cardrona! Boarders of all ages are invited to compete on the specially-built course - check out all the details here.

We can’t wait for a HUGE week here at Cardrona! If you’re heading up the mountain from Tuesday onwards, make sure you look up to the Big Air jump to see some of the best in the world throw down!
