Winter came back to Cardrona with a VENGEANCE for this week’s ski report!
We got absolutely dumped on this Wednesday, bringing winter right back to the mountain with 15cm across our 3 basins, & wind drifts up to 50cm deep! The cloud lifted for a beeeeautiful bluebird Friday yesterday with heaps of people heading up Cardrona to check out the fresh lines, blues skies & great times as Spring bounced back!
Last week was a busy one for training camps, with Janina Kuzma’s Shades of Winter women’s freeski camp going off, while older skiers trained & competed in the Dynastar Ski Masters. Today we also have the Otago Secondary Schools Champs, with high school students from around the region competing in Giant Slalom & Slopestyle. Check out all the action under Whitestar Express from 9.30am!
Nico's on the Red Bull team!
Cardrona Team member Nico Porteous was welcomed to the Red Bull team in style on Tuesday! He had NO idea what was going on when he got in a chopper to catch up with Aussie Red Bull athlete Russ Henshaw in the Southern Alps backcountry – it’s fair to say his reaction when he dug up his team helmet out of the snow was pretty awesome! Check out the video on Newshub here & the recap from Red Bull here! We couldn’t be more proud of Nico – watch this space for more from him & big brother Miguel, the Porteous boys are on FIRE!
The ski report from snow-forecast.com is predicting a fairly sunny week ahead… spring it on! (You’re not sick of us that saying yet, are ya?)
