About the event:
The South Island Secondary Schools Champs is an interschool competition for secondary schools located in the South Island regions. Competitors can compete in Giant Slalom & Slopestyle competitions. Each school can enter a boys or a girls team or enter as an individual.
Students must be under the age of 19yrs as of 1 January 2020 and fulfil the eligibility criteria for competition in secondary school sport as defined by the School Sports NZ Council. Students in years 7 & 8 are not eligible to participate.
This event is open to individuals however competitors must have competed in their own (Otago/Southland, Canterbury, Tasman or Aoraki) event to be eligible.

A team must consist of 3 or 4 competitors who enter ski or snowboard disciplines. Every team member is also entered in as an individual for overall individual results in GS & Slopestyle. The overall team results will be determined from the top 3 team members' individual results from GS & Slopestyle (in each discipline & category).
The teams for 2020 will include Ski Male Race | Ski Female Race, Ski Male Freestyle | Ski Female Freestyle, Snowboard Male Freestyle | Snowboard Female Freestyle.

Teams from the North Island regions are permitted to compete however they can only contest the individual podium results and not the South Island interschool results.

*Dependant on entry numbers, there may also be a ski/snowboard cross-discipline on Sunday, September 20th. More info to come!
