You don’t have to be a skier or snowboarder to have a great day on the mountain – check out sightseeing at Cardrona!  

We know that not everyone who comes on a New Zealand winter holiday is here to ski or snowboard. At Cardrona, we offer different options for our guests who aren’t skiers or snowboarders, or just want to take a break and try something different.

Sightseeing

McDougall’s Express Chondola is the perfect way to see the mountain on foot. We have 10 gondola cabins on the 'combined' lift of gondola cabins and chairs, to get you headed to the top of the mountain in comfort and style!  

The McDougall’s Express Chondola starts right beside our Base area, so you don’t have to trek for miles through the snow to get to the lift, and in under 4mins you’ll be at the top of the mountain. Admire the views, take as many photos for the family album as you want or indulge yourself at the Vista Bar with a cheeky glass of Mumm champagne.

With 8 distinctly different on-mountain cafés and restaurants accessible by foot from our Base Area, there is something for every tastebud at Cardrona. Try the locally-sourced à la carte menu at Mezz, or head up the McDougall's Chondola and melt into a boozy hot chocolate at Vista Bar. Feast on Asian flavours at Noodle Bar, or try a vegetarian or vegan option at Base Bar. Head to the Lounge for a delicious coffee and sweet treat, or grab some good ol' fashioned Kiwi fush n' chups at Base Cafe!

Our cafés and restaurants proudly sell nothing with packaging that goes to landfill or PET plastic bottles. All our packaging can be recycled or composted!

•  Gondola rides run dependent on weather conditions

• Small plastic play toboggans can only be used after 4 pm on the beginner slope and around the base area. 

• Kids under 6 and seniors over 75yrs sightsee for free! Pick up an RFID card from our on-mountain Ticket Office.
