Summer's back! And with it, a forntightly What's On blog, helping you suss out what's happening up here.
Welcome to Summer '24! And geez are we glad to be back up the hill. Cardrona opens TODAY, and we can't wait to see what this season brings. Starting out on the greens, or pushing yourself to new limits - whatever it is you have in store, we're ready to help you get there. Summer operates a little differently from winter with opening hours. Here's a brief rundown of open times and dates:
Opening Friday December 15 - TGIF

Between December 26 - January 22
- We're open EVERY day from 10am – 5pm
- Closed Christmas Day
Between January 23 – March 3

Events
Today is opening day! And to celebrate (besides the usual good times and impeccable atmosphere) we're hosting a plant a seed day!
You might be familiar with our Plant a Seed Cardrona Foundation Pillar. Well, events like this uphold that pillar and make sure we're making sure the maunga is as well looked after, biodiverse, and nourished as it can be. The details:
When: TODAY Friday December 15, 3pm - 7pm
Where: Pringles Creek. Head to the Pines car park, and follow the flags and signage up the mountain road - you won't miss it!
What: Plant a Seed with us on your way up/down the mountain on summer opening day!
We're aiming to get 600 native plants in the ground. We have all the gear, we just need some people power, and that's where you come in. Dcorate your plant marker, so you can come back and check on how your plant is doing in years to come.
How much: It's FREE to take part in the planting, and there will be spot prizes from icebreaker on the day. The event is not only supported by icebreaker, but also by b.Effect, the Cardrona Distillery and Mr Whippy - expect free treats to keep you going!
Summer construction
It's sure been a week of excitement at Cardrona. We've opened for summer, and we also announced a new chairlift in Soho Basin, coming Winter 2025!
A brand new 6-seater detachable Doppelmayr chairlift is being installed over the next two summers, so if you're riding and wonder what's going on, we're getting ready for 150ha of new terrain being unlocked!
