Cardrona What's On: Big Bucks is Coming
The conditions are continuing to be awesome and we're installing more in the park every week. Read all about it below.
Willow's Basin opened in the last couple of weeks and the skiing and riding have been fun. We've found the terrain on that side to be much quieter than Captain's, so if you're unsure where Willow's Basin is, you'll find it by heading up McDougall's Chondola, skiing a little down Skyline, and then taking a right through the gates.
The cold temps have also meant big progress with the terrain parks, especially Big Bucks which has now jumps one and two, with jump three loading.
These late winter conditions are shaping Spring to be an awesome season to ski or ride in. Our newest pass, the Spring Flexi 5 day pass is available to buy now. It works the same as our 'regular' Flexi 5-day pass which means it can be used at both Cardrona and Treble Cone, at any time from September 1. It's also valid to use even if the mountain is sold out of day or multi-day passes. Ski from $120/day here.
Weather Forecast
Today and Friday look like awesome bluebird days, very cold, with lows of -3 degrees, so layer up and pack your sunscreen!
Saturday and Sunday could see some snow showers with moderate wind, making Monday a very promising day to be heading up the mountain. Stay updated and open the Snow Report from 6.30 am daily to see what conditions are like.
Treble Cone
TC was all about events last weekend, hosting the TC Mini Mountain and the historic Banked Slalom. Thanks all who participated in the events!
The mountain has also had some good snow over the last couple of weeks, measuring 55cm at Home Basin and 100cm at the saddle. Is it time to make your own saddle story? Read more here.
Now's a great time to visit NZ's 'most challenging mountain', take some turns and check out one of the best views in New Zealand. If you're coming from Queenstown, consider allowing us to take the wheel. Check out our bus transport options here.
Events
There are no scheduled events this weekend. However, until Friday we'll be hosting the Special Olympics on the slopes.
A five-day festival for local and visiting skiers and snowboarders with intellectual and physical disabilities, there's a great buzz up the mountain from the racers participating.
Friday, August 25 marks the start of Winter Games NZ, you can follow some of the exciting highlights on our social media feed, or follow @wintergamesnz on instagram or find them on facebook.

Terrain Parks
Big Bucks jump three is in the cat crew's sight, and all efforts are working on getting that open.
This weekend they'll be setting up rail features for the Junior World Champs in upper Big Bucks too. Another three features have also been switched up in Mcpark. Keep an eye out on the Cardrona Parks instagram page for announcements @cardronaparksnz.
And finally, some Big Bucks fun captured on film:
Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy it up here!
