Cardrona What's On: Big Winter Events Continue

Cold sunny conditions, Winter Games NZ and Winter Pride all continue this week! Read all about it below.

Bluebird days and cold temps have shown up in a big way for Winter Games and Winter Pride this week, and we're so happy to see it! The team say that grooming is as good as it gets with cold conditions, making it perfect for overnight snowmaking. Off-piste is varied, so you'll need to be higher up on the mountain to get the best conditions.

Winter Games NZ JWC qualifiers and finals went off earlier this week. The freeski and snowboard slopestyle skills were incredible, here's just some of the talent that's been up the mountain this week!

You've still got a chance to watch some epic Big Air events this weekend. Read below for more info.

It was awesome hosting our Mountain Du Jour events for Winter Pride this year, but the biggest Winter Pride events are still to come! Read below in our events section.

At the Cardrona Corner back after demand is our exclusive icebreaker x Cardrona Alpine Zone collection longsleeves. Warm in all weather, they're perfect for long days on the mountain coming into spring! Check the designs out here.

Enjoying these springtime conditions? Our newest pass, the Spring Flexi 5 day pass is available to buy now. It works the same as our 'regular' Flexi 5-day pass which means it can be used at both Cardrona and Treble Cone, at any time from September 1. It's also valid to use even if the mountain is sold out of day or multi-day passes. Ski from $120/day here.

Weather Forecast

Today and Friday look mostly clear and mild, with lows of -1 degrees. Saturday and Sunday look milder, with plenty of sunshine in the forecast. You know what that means, pack those layers and sunscreen in!

Monday could be promising with cold temps but scattered sunshine. Stay updated and open the Snow Report from 6.30 am daily to see what conditions are like.

Treble Cone

No events to report this week! Treble Cone's been ticking over with cold temps for great snowmaking for fantastic corduroy laps. The image below perfectly summarises the energy at one of the best views in New Zealand right now.

Events

Winter Games NZ

Friday 1 - Sunday 3 September the freeski and snowboard Junior World Champs Big Air qualifiers and finals are happening. Follow the highlights on our social media feed, or follow @wintergamesnz on instagram or find them on facebook.

Dragon Week

Wednesday 6 - Sunday 10 September is Dragon Week! Look out for scavenger hunts, giveaways, demos and freestyle events.

Winter Pride 2023

Today is Winter Pride's annual Onesie Day! We're hoping to see some creativity come to life on the slopes. Dress to impress, and we'll catch you up here snug and warm and silly!

Saturday 2 is Pride Ski Parade Day, the final event of Winter Pride. Light up the slopes in a huge, colourful and loud parade. Flags, onesies, hats, accessories, everything vibrant, fun and energetic you can paint the mountain rainbow with to ski or board from the top. The parade will kick off at 2pm, but be at the top nice and early so we're all ready to go.

We were so happy to see the Big Air in use after it opened late last week!

Features like Big Bucks and Big Air will be closed to the public intermittently this week, check with our team before you head up to use one of them!

McPark, Lil Bucks and Antlers Alley will all be open!

Big Bucks, Hannah Marshall

We'll catch you up here this weekend watching some Big Air live! Happy Winter Pride, and have a great weekend!
