Cardrona What's On: Bring on August

Winter is flying by, and we're rolling into August like it's nobody's business. Here's what you need to know about the week ahead.

And just like that, the July school holidays are a distant memory. We're about to be cruising into August, and over the last two weeks, our teams have given 100% to make sure everybody's mountain experience is the best it can be. We'd like to take this opportunity to say a big thanks to our transport team who shuttled well over 3500 people over the holidays, and to our guest-facing teams for keeping everyone fed, watered, and geared up.

We'd also like to give a big shout-out to our juniors who participated in all our junior events over the holidays. You killed it, and we had so much fun hanging out with you all!

It's true that it feels easy when you're looking steezy. Did you know that we have an online retail store as well as the on-mountain ones? Our team at Cardrona Corner has all the best gear so you can look flawless when you head up the slopes.

Weather Forecast

It's felt like the sky has been trying its best to deliver over the last couple of days. There could be a few snow showers from today through the weekend, with a bigger dump Monday night. You've got highs of -4°C tomorrow, so this is your reminder to pack layers to keep warm!

Join our Facebook Snow Reports Group or load up the website Snow Report from 6.30am daily to see what conditions are doing each day.

Treble Cone

TC's had a mixed bag of weather over the last week, with wild cloud formations, some challenging visibility, stormy precipitation, and bluebird days above the inversion. There are a few snow showers forecast over the weekend, with a bigger dump on the way on Monday.

Here's Jessie Violet making this week's conditions look easy:

Events

Our next event is the Cardrona Ski Masters on August 5-6! Some of NZ's more experienced ski racers will come up the mountain to compete for the Masters titles, with divisions starting from 18+ and going aaaaall the way up. It's tonnes of fun to see recreational skiers test themselves, and keeping the masters (who have lifetime's worth of competition) on their toes. If it sounds like a bit of you, check out more info here.

Terrain Parks

It's been another week of digging for our Parks crew, with the weather preventing a couple of builds. However, watch this space. Jump 3 in Big Bucks is in progress, and the crew are starting work on the Antlers Alley jibs.

Here's a shot from last weekend's Park Attack slopestyle - how good is the next generation of park riders?!

In August, Cardrona Parks is hosting Burton and GoPro's Battle of the Bubble. For five weeks starting on August 1st, Cardrona will be going head to head with Thredbo Parks in Aussie. The deal is that ours and Thredbo's Parks Crew will custom-build Park features for a month-long competition where riders will hit the feature, shoot their videos, edit it using the GoPro Quik App, and then upload and tag #BattleOfTheBubble22. The prizes are awesome. You could win anything from a $1000 YETI prize pack to $5000 cash. So let's get to it, Cardrona Parks riders. There's nothing like a bit of friendly competition with our neighbours, right?

Food & Beverage

This is your weekly reminder that our food and beverage outlets could look quite different this year, but the food will still be delicious, we promise! From one day to the next, there may be different offerings in each outlet (depending on staffing levels, isolation requirements etc.), so your patience and understanding is really appreciated by us and our team.

The legends at Roti Bros are still up the mountain - they sell curry-themed roti pie deliciousness. You'll find them downstairs from Snow Sports HQ on the patio outside Base Café. Want a space to eat your own lunch? On busy days you can head to the Noodle Bar, which is open as a warm and dry space for you to do so. Please remember our landfill-free policy and think about the packaging your food comes in, and take any waste you have home with you.
