Cardrona What's On: It's the Start of Winter Pride!

This weekend kicks off Winter Pride, and we're celebrating our rainbow community!

It's the start of Winter Pride Week this Sunday, and we're really excited for it! After a good top-up of snow over last weekend and through the week, we're all set and ready to go. The weather looks amazing, the events are fantastic, and we're excited to see all of you on our slopes.

There's just over one week left of our battle with Thredbo, Aus in GoPro and Burton's Battle of the Bubble. We're stoked to see what our awesome team put together on the custom features the Park Crew built. Watch and vote for your favourite edit by clicking here.

Looking for retail? Head online to shop for Cardrona merch and more, or check out their new pop-up shop at Guest Services.

Weather Forecast

We've had the colder temps and snow we were craving this week. This weekend is looking amazing, with clear, cool and calm days ahead.

Join our Facebook Snow Reports Group or load up the website Snow Report from 6.30 am daily to see what conditions are doing each day.

Treble Cone

A lot of people are wondering why Treble Cone has had its Saddle Basin and surrounding areas frequently closed. It's due to a glide slab - here's some quick info:

  • We've had this problem from day one when 2m of snow landed on the warm, steep tussocky ground and created a glide slab avalanche issue.
  • It's been manageable so far, with closures and isolating pockets of it.
  • However, after last week's boatload of rain and warm temps, those small pockets have become... relatively large, throughout the Basin and the terrain above Saddle Track.
  • The best way this can be fixed is with long periods of cold temps.
  • We appreciate you bearing with us! If you see closures, please respect them because we're doing it for a reason. Keep checking the snow report for the latest updates, openings and closures.

TC's weather is set to be similar to Cardrona, with bright days, mild temps and calm breezes. The snow could potentially start to come back through on Wednesday day as a refresher.

Events

Our TC Ski Masters was postponed to this Saturday 27, so it's still technically the next event to hit our slopes, and you've still got time to enter! Event info can be found here.

The next day will be our T-Ski Gnarlom proudly brought to you by Salomon. Think of this as the ski edition of Banked Slalom, but with vengeance. The fastest time wins, so leave the slow skis at home. You can enter here

This Sunday, we'll be kicking off Winter Pride week with an on-mountain DJ in our Prize Zone. Days don't get better than great vibes, hitting the slopes, and ski breaks for boogieing.

We'll also have a 'Boogie in the Bumps' event at Treble Cone on Tuesday 30. Think of an easy mogul race, pumping tunes, stylish moves, and a panel of judges. Later in the week, there'll be a onesie day at Cardrona on Thursday 1, with our full ski parade on Saturday 3. The whole week is guaranteed to be positive, inclusive, and a whole lot of fun.

A full debrief of the events can be found here. All our events are free and inclusive, so everyone can get involved and show support for our rainbow community!

Come boogie with us!

Terrain Parks

The Parks got to reopen this week after a pause from the rain. The Crew have rebuilt the last two jumps in Big Bucks for you to watch out for, and are progressing nicely with Jump 1, so their advice is 'look before you leap'. There are also a few more rails added in Lower Antler’s Alley. Fingers crossed, if the weather keeps holding, it’ll allow building for the Winter Games Slopestyle, so keep tuned in!

The big news of today is that the Olympic halfpipe opened for the first time this season... here's a wee behind-the-scenes clip thanks to Marlies Nindl and our Pipe builder Alli Zehetner:

Food & Beverage

This is your weekly reminder that our food and beverage outlets could look quite different this year, but the food will still be delicious, we promise! From one day to the next, there may be different offerings in each outlet (depending on staffing levels, isolation requirements etc.), so your patience and understanding is really appreciated by us and our team.

The legends at Roti Bros are still up the mountain - they sell curry-themed roti pie deliciousness. You'll find them downstairs from Snow Sports HQ on the patio outside Base Café. Want a space to eat your own lunch? On busy days you can head to the Noodle Bar, which is open as a warm and dry space for you to do so. Please remember our landfill-free policy and think about the packaging your food comes in, and take any waste you have home with you.
