Cardrona What's On: Jossi Wells Invitational Kicks Off

At the end of Māori language week, the Jossi Wells Invitational is just kicking off! Read all about it below.

Happy Rāmere (Friday). The What's On is coming to you today, at the end of an informative and interesting Māori language week. Laura Wooton has been on our socials all week, explaining te reo Māori, exploring culture, and having daily Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori (Māori Language Moments). We hope you found it as useful and interesting as we have. If you're interested in learning more te reo Māori, Laura is hosting a quiz in Noodle Bar at 2pm where a GoPro 11 is up for grabs!

Today is also exciting as we're hosting the first day of the Jossi Wells Invitational! Not sure what that is? Think of a huge ski and snowboard event, hosting some of the world's best as they compete across Cardrona and Treble Cone in some epic terrain and parks. Read more about it in our Events section below.

In other news, Carol's, our exciting new ice cream truck we launched up Cardrona this year in honour of the famous Cardrona legend Carol Little has a tasty new dish. The food truck is now serving up fresh waffles with ice cream (pictured right). This might well be the perfect thing to keep you going these spring days.

Winter Games NZ wrapped this week with the Obsidian Challenges, it was epic seeing the regional teams compete on the Big Air and Park challenges. Congratulations to Team Europe, overall winners, who have taken home the trophy!

Weather Forecast

After a windy and snowy day yesterday, we're happy to forecast a bluebird and colder day today with snow and wind forecast over the weekend. It's looking like a mixed weekend with high winds, so please check the snow report the morning before you travel!

Stay updated and open the Snow Report from 6.30 am daily to see what conditions are like.

Treble Cone

Treble Cone is hosting the annual Green Steam and Protect Our Winters POW Day on Saturday!

Green Steam is a carbon zero maunga mission right up to the TC summit only through biking, skinning and skiing or riding. A testament to anyone's athletic ability and commitment to the environment, this one will have you feeling extra good afterwards.

The fun doesn't stop with Green Steam, though: there's the POW day, hosting heaps of fun activities, and offering ways to keep in the loop with sustainable initiatives. Think carpooling prizes, a scavenger hunt, and a tree planting session. There'll be a Sustainability Zone where the POW team will be based to answer any of your questions!

Events

Today kicks off the Monster Energy Jossi Wells Invitational, with the legendary Big Air challenge!

Athletes you can expect to see competing this weekend are: Cool Wakushima, Mia Brookes, Taiga Hasegawa, Dusty Henricksen, Megan Oldham, Olivia Asselin, Tom Wallisch, Ferdinand Dahl, Édouard Therriault and heaps more of the world's best up Cardrona and Treble Cone over the weekend.

Stay connected with the event through our social media accounts @cardronanz. This is the best place to find out when the Rail Jam and TC Shoot-Out will be taking place. See you all up here for a great weekend!

Terrain Parks

The parks have been getting pumped the last week from Winter Games NZ! Expect some closures over the weekend as JWI takes place - just check in with the team up at Cardrona to know what's safe to ride.
