Cardrona What's On: The Level 2 Groove

We've settled into the Level 2 groove at Cardrona and Treble Cone – here's what's coming up next week.

We just want to say a massive thanks to all our guests for your support and understanding as we navigated the transition into Level 2. Please keep being kind to each other and our team, especially in the lift lines – we will need you to help us maintain your distance throughout the lift loading process and we're very grateful for all you've done so far.

For a refresher on our Level 2 guidelines, head to our Level 2 update page.

Our cafes have clarified what they're offering and how:

  • Mezz: Almost business as usual – table service, breakfast, lunch, apres, dinner, coffee, booze
  • Noodle Bar: Table service only from 10am – food, coffee, tap beer, sake
  • Base Cafe/Captain's: Queue at the counter and the chefs will hand out your food. No alcohol in Base, Captain's serving alcohol and bar snacks from 1.30pm via table service.
  • Base Bar: Head to the counter to order coffee/food. Take a seat until your drink is ready. Tap beer and wine available from 1.30pm via table service.
  • The Lounge: You will be given a table - head to the counter to order food/hot drinks. Booze will be available from 1.30pm via table service.

Please join our Cardrona Snow Reports Facebook group or follow our Twitter account so you can keep up to date on what the snow and weather conditions are like each day, how our facilities are running, and what's happening with our on-mountain events.

weather

SnowsBest.com are predicting a sunny Saturday, and some snow showers coming in on Sunday before a (fingers crossed!) 12cm snow fall on Monday! We'll definitely be keeping an eye on this next storm cycle and keeping you updated on our social media channels.

If you're in the backcountry this week, don't forget to record what you observe through the NZ Mountain Safety Council's Avalanche Advisory page.

terrain parks

This week the North Face Cardrona Parks crew are setting new rails in Stag Lane. The Winter Games NZ Obsidian Park Jam course will be open to the public for a short period of time - check out style master JJ Rayward taking it on during the event on Monday:

events

This week the race action has moved from Treble Cone over to us at Cardrona, with 3 days of Masters ski racing this week, and the Cardrona Junior Interfields on tomorrow. Pīki Maunga Rangatahi (Big Mountain Youth) will be held on Sunday if snow conditions allow on the day - they will make a call on Sunday morning about whether it will run or not. It's scheduled to be in Arcadia, and should be an absolute blast for the kids, their coaches and their parents!

Next week the Mount Aspiring College kids will be up for their annual champs, and next Friday marks the start of this year's Winter Pride!

treble cone

The forecasting sites are almost consistently saying that Saturday is looking like the best weather day up TC this weekend, with snow showers starting on Sunday and really kicking in for Monday. The next event up at TC is the Treble Cone Gnarlom... it's an off-piste slalom race for skiers, but with a few twists and turns along the way. It's on August 30 - don't miss it!

For all daily updates, join the Treble Cone Facebook Snow Reports group.
