Cardrona What's On: We're Open for 2021!

Welcome to our first "What's On" for Winter 2021!

These blogs will be released every Friday of the winter season - check in each week for an update on what's happening at both Cardrona and Treble Cone over the coming week.

To kick things off this winter we want to say a giant THANK YOU for all your patience over the last couple of weeks as we've shifted targeted opening days and adjusted what we had on offer. We're pretty excited to be skiing and snowboarding from McDougall's as of Wednesday this week, and we can't wait to see what happens with the weather over the next week so we can start opening up more terrain. We'll keep you posted on the Cardrona Snow Reports Facebook group!

We also want to take this moment to #thankyourlocalsnowmaker - our snowmaking and grooming teams at both mountains have put in a lot of mahi to get us to this point, and we wouldn't be skiing or snowboarding without them!

Weather Forecast

Our friends at SnowsBest.com are predicting a decent storm early-mid next week, but we don't want to jinx it... so here are the links to their Cardrona and Treble Cone forecasts!

The forecast for the next three days from Snow-Forecast.com looks like this:

The snowmaking and grooming teams at Treble Cone have been working really hard to piece Triple Treat together, but there's still one section that needs a decent amount more snow. At the time of writing this, the crew are now working towards opening on Sunday, but keep an eye on the TC Snow Reports group and their Facebook/Instagram accounts for further updates.

Events

Tomorrow (Saturday) head to the bottom of McDougall's to check out some of next season's gear at the industry demo day! Our first major event of the season isn't until July 24th - the Base Park Attack Slopestyle is part of the SSNZ Slopestyle Series and is for the next generation of freestyle skiers and snowboarders to show off their skills on our terrain park features.

Terrain Parks

McPark 3.0 is up and running, and the North Face Cardrona Park Crew managed to double its length last night! There are a range of features for intermediate and advanced park riders under McDougall's, and a few box features for beginner park riders on the Learner's Slope.

Things to look out for

We're enforcing our new sustainability initiatives, including reserving the top carpark for single parents with young kids, adaptive guests, and vehicles with 3 or more people in them. Please pay attention to the instructions from the carpark crew and signage!

We also have a brand new coffee hut at the Pines carpark (1km from the bottom of the road)! That means while you're waiting for a free shuttle you can grab a barista coffee from the wonderful team down there.
